Session 13
Management Information Systems 150:145 -- D. Power
Today's Agenda -- Tuesday, February 20, 2007
- TCP/IP video animated demo. Humorous in a "techy" way
- Lecture Ch. 6. Evaluating DSS Architecture, Networking and Security Issues
- What are the four general components of a DSS? Briefly define and explain each.
- What is a DSS architecture? What are the benefits of defining a DSS architecture?
- What steps should be followed in managing IS/IT security?
- What is the difference between an information system architecture and the information technology infrastructure?
- The architecture of a system encompasses the hardware and software used to deliver the solution to the final consumer of services.
The architecture is a description of the design and contents of a computerized system. If documented,
the architecture may include information such as a detailed inventory of current hardware, software and
networking capabilities; a description of long-range plans and priorities for future purchases, and a
plan for upgrading and/or replacing dated equipment and software. The architecture should document: What
data is stored?, How does the system function?, Where are components located?, When do activities and
events occur in the system?, and Why does the system exist?
