Alphablox Ships German, French and Japanese Versions Of LeadingBusiness Intelligence Platform

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA ,-December 18, 2000 - AlphaBlox Corporation, maker of the only open Web-based platform for delivering the analytical infrastructure for business applications focused on driving profitability, announced the availability of the internationalized version of AlphaBlox 3. AlphaBlox 3 is available in German, French and Japanese, extending the products reach to businesses in the world's largest and most developed markets, which represent 23% of worldwide GDP. AlphaBlox 3 now also runs on IBM's AIX, one of the world's most reliable and scalable UNIX operating systems, and on Apache, one of the most popular open-standard Web servers, which powers over 60% of the Web. This development addresses the growing worldwide analytical infrastructure market, which will expand to $18 Billion (USD) by 2003.

By internationalizing AlphaBlox 3, AlphaBlox makes it easier for its global customers and partners to increase their profitability and success by sharing information both inside and outside the firewall while being able to further personalize and customize analytical applications with localized access for end users. According to AlphaBlox's chairman and CEO, Michael Skok, "You can't compete profitably in today's connected economy without leveraging information from customer management, supply chain and operational systems. Everyone needs information and insight to clearly understand what to act on to compete, increase revenues, reduce costs and -- ultimately -- profit."

"Analytical applications are now the next step in Data Warehousing. AlphaBlox is the only company that offers Web-based architecture for analytical infrastructure enabling applications to meet today's demands for ROI and profitability," said Dr. Wolfgang Martin, Senior Vice President at MetaGroup (NASDAQ: METG). "More and more standardized key performance indicators for business performance management are used, and will be used by leading enterprises. This is why analytical applications are now the mainstream investments in business intelligence," Dr. Martin added.

Hannes Wambach, Hyperion's (NASDAQ: HYSL) Area Managing Director, Germany, Austria, Switzerland said, "For any global player expanding its presence in the international market, it's of great importance to be proactive in truly showing your commitment to be international. Today's announcement from AlphaBlox shows that it is a serious global player by embracing three of the largest international communities outside of the English speaking market. "

AlphaBlox 3 is an open and extensible platform that enables the integration of business intelligence within one's existing infrastructure. It allows businesses to quickly offer personalized delivery of analytical applications, both inside and outside the firewall, that exploit legacy systems; including relational, multidimensional, data warehousing, OLAP and Web data sources. AlphaBlox 3's openness and extensibility also gives businesses the ability to embed analytics into business processes, packaged applications, corporate portals and B2B services.

AlphaBlox recently introduced the SpreadsheetBlox platform to the product family. The AlphaBlox Spreadsheet is the only 100% Web-based, zero-client spreadsheet that connects to live corporate and Web data sources simultaneously, allowing an end user to further personalize and interact with analytical information, create live reports, share information inside or outside the enterprise, and write back, over the Web, to multidimensional and relational database applications. These connected spreadsheets can be manipulated with custom calculations and formats, allowing users to do "what if" planning rather than viewing only "what was". This opens up completely new opportunities for sales forecasting, budgeting and demand planning within customer relationship management (CRM), operational analysis and supply chain management (SCM) applications.
