Call for Papers for the Mini Track

"Model-Driven and Web-Based
Decision Support Systems"

This mini track focuses on building and evaluating Model-Driven and Web-Based Decision Support Systems. Model-Driven DSS emphasize access to and manipulation of a model, for example, statistical, financial, optimization or simulation models. Web-Based DSS deliver decision support information or decision support models to a manager, business analyst, customer or supplier using a "thin-client" Web browser like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer.

Possible Topics include the following:

DSS Design Methodologies, especially for Model-Driven and Web-Based DSS

Selection of DSS Generators

Development in Java, JavaScript, Perl and C

Level of Detail and Precision to Include in Models

Model Formulation

Model Maintenance

Model Management in Web and Distributed Computing Environments

Evaluation of DSS Designs

Linking Models and Database Technologies

Technical Antecedents of Acceptance and Use

Role and Effects of User Involvement in Design and Development

Comparative Effectiveness of Different Interactive Structures for DSS

Model-Driven DSS Applications

Web-Based DSS for Customers and Suppliers

We invite papers that address any of the areas listed above, as well as any related issues. Reviewers, Discussants and Session Chairs are also needed.

Submission of Material: March 15, 2000

Notification of Acceptance: April 15, 2000

Camera-Ready Copy: May 5, 2000

Conference Registration: June 1, 2000

Submission Guidelines

All submissions and inquiries should be made to D. J. Power at power@uni.edu. Submissions must be in English, and should represent the original work of the authors. Each submission is limited to SEVEN pages (approximately 3500 words) in length for a full complete research paper and THREE pages (approximately 1500 words) for a research-in-progress paper. All submissions should be made electronically and sent as an attachment in MS Word, WordPerfect, PDF, or HTML format. Please indicate "AMCIS 2000 Mini Track Submission" in the subject line of the e-mail to which your submissions are attached. Best papers will be recognized and receive awards at the conference.

Submissions should include the following:

i) Name, e-mail, mailing address, university/organization affiliation, phone/fax numbers of the contact person and all co-authors.

ii) Title of the submission, Keywords (five words), Abstract , and Main body of the submission.

iii) References and/or bibliography (in MIS Quarterly format).
