    Business/Technology Editors

    WESFTORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2000--

Emerging Business Standard Enables Dynamic, Automated Integration to Help Companies Rapidly Build out B2B Initiatives and XML-based Web Services

Openpages, Inc., a leading provider of content management software solutions for e-business, today announced that it has joined the UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration) Project. Openpages joins the more than 100 leading companies adopting this new standard and a creation of the business registry, announced in early September 2000.
In a world where Web services are based on standards, with UDDI, companies will be able to develop and augment their IT infrastructure by selecting and integrating Web services that meet their specific needs. The integration of these services will be faster and easier than developing custom code or by integrating software packages from several vendors that are not based on a common standard.
In regards to content management, companies will require the ability to share content management services to enhance collaboration between partners for information production and syndication. UDDI will make it easier for business partners to register, share and integrate content management specific services. Moreover, UDDI will make it much easier for companies to extend, enhance and customize content management services for their own users.
The UDDI registry is platform- and implementation-neutral and has interfaces based on XML and SOAP. Although the registry is based on XML, the services it can be implemented using HTML, XML, Java, COBRA, Windows DNA or any other type of programming model or language.
"At Openpages, we believe in and support the development of XML Web services and the establishment of a central marketplace to catalog and profile these services," states Warren Huff, president and CEO of Openpages. "Through our participation with UDDI, we hope to continue to create a truly open content management solution, while bringing significant value to our customers and all their partners through a premiere end-to-end content management system. The ability to help UDDI define the future direction of Web services also drove our decision to join UDDI."
