FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Frontline Group Unveils KnowHow ²

NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 6, 2001 — Employee knowledge is either a company's most valuable asset or its greatest liability. Capturing and using employee knowledge is the heart of Frontline Group's (www.frontline-group.com) new KnowHow2 Web-based organizational learning system.

"We have a very simple motto: Discover what works and keep doing it. Figure out what does not work and never do it again," said J. Ford Brett, president of the Frontline Group Organizational Learning Division. "KnowHow2 gives companies the power to accomplish these two objectives by eliminating geographic and technical boundaries to organizational learning."

Effective organizational learning has proven to reduce costs and increase employee understanding dramatically in short periods of time. For example, an employee's knowledge of mergers and acquisitions is an asset if it is shared across the company so that others can use this knowledge to avoid mistakes, reduce costs and, ultimately, improve the opportunities for success. When unshared or inaccessible, the employee's knowledge becomes a liability that dooms others to repeat similar mistakes.

KnowHow2 is the next generation of Frontline's Organizational Learning System (OLS) software, which during the last 10 years has helped manufacturing companies dramatically reduce cycle times and costs. OLS has helped solve complex logistical problems, connected multidisciplinary teams and reduced the impact of turnover. OLS projects have often had return on investment exceeding hundreds of percent.

KnowHow2 is part of a comprehensive approach to organizational learning. Through a consultative relationship with Frontline Group, companies implement organizational learning and take full advantage of KnowHow2's capabilities in bringing knowledge management and process improvement together.

KnowHow2 allows employees to learn and improve as they perform their jobs by combining three business functions (project management, knowledge management and organizational learning) in an easy-to-use package. The project management function, which will eventually integrate with Microsoft Project, allows individuals and teams to assign and review tasks; scan updated project news; and evaluate project goals.

The knowledge management function creates project templates that link important documents (checklists, regulations, company policies, etc.) to specific types of projects so that every team member can quickly reference the materials that they need at the time they need them.

The organizational learning function is where individuals and teams generate true costs saving and return on investment. KnowHow2 allows individuals to create I-Ideas (Improvement Ideas) that it quantifies, classifies and stores for future review. Periodically during a project, managers can review submitted I-Ideas. When a manager accepts an I-Idea, KnowHow2 incorporates it into the appropriate part of the template so that other individuals and teams benefit from this knowledge in the future.
