InfoImage Decision Portal Software First
To Be Certified to Support Three Million Users
BenchmarkQA Certifies the Market's Most
Scalable Enterprise Portal Solution to Date
PHOENIX, April 11 -- InfoImage, Inc. today announced that it has
successfully completed performance tests that demonstrate InfoImage
Freedom(TM) 3, its enterprise decision portal software, can support three
million users through a network of federated portal servers. As the first
vendor with certified results showing global scalability, InfoImage offers
multinational organizations the ability to collaborate throughout the
enterprise regardless of the number of users.
Working with InfoImage and Microsoft at Microsoft Premier Customer Labs,
BenchmarkQA certified the InfoImage architecture, testing methodology and
results. InfoImage Freedom runs on Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 and the .NET
platform, and is the most scalable enterprise portal on the market today.
Three Million Users, with Room to Grow
The InfoImage Federated Portal Architecture(TM) (patent pending) allows an
organization to deploy a worldwide network of separate yet interconnected
decision portal servers, regardless of location. At a single site, a server
cluster can support over 250,000 registered users. Using the InfoImage
architecture, any number of individual sites can be combined to support any
number of users. For example, 12 sites will support over three million
registered users. The architecture allows for additional portal sites to be
added at any time, with a corresponding increase in the number of users.
"Potential buyers have frequently questioned whether corporate portal
technology could scale to meet the real world needs of today's large
enterprises," said Rob Perry, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. "This
benchmark shows that InfoImage has a technology solution that provides the
scale and flexibility to meet the broad and distributed needs of any size
employer, assuring customers that enterprise portals are possible."
Thousands supported by a single server
InfoImage Freedom is the only enterprise portal solution capable of
delivering both standard corporate portals and advanced decision portals. A
decision portal makes use of the product's collaborative decision management
features and involves very active users and significant run-time access to
enterprise information system. InfoImage conducted performance tests for both
types of portal configurations, and the InfoImage product was the first
certified to support thousands of concurrent users per server in both cases.
InfoImage defines concurrent users as those who are doing active work within
the portal.
Configured as a standard enterprise information portal with an activity
profile that is typical for such systems, InfoImage Freedom supported
34,000 concurrent users per dual-processor server, with an average response
time of 0.6 seconds. This configuration matches the corporate and extranet
portal deployment scenario that most portal customers are looking for today.
When configured as an enterprise decision portal, InfoImage Freedom
supported 2,300 concurrent users per server, with an average response time of
2.5 seconds on the same dual-processor server systems.
The tasks and workloads used in the test methodologies were based on
actual customer installations to ensure the simulation of highly active,
real-world portal usage. With these results, customers can gauge their
portal hardware needs more accurately than they could by using only the
hits-per-second or transactions-per-second performance figures quoted by
other vendors.
"For the first time in the portal market, a system exists to support
distributed decision-making throughout a large, dispersed organization and its
partners and customers," said Steve Aninye, InfoImage chief technology
officer. "The combination of InfoImage software, the Windows 2000 server
platform and the .NET architecture creates an enterprise portal solution that
effectively meets the demands of the largest organizations."
The tests, conducted at Microsoft Premier Customer Labs in Bellevue,
Wash., and InfoImage's Phoenix lab, were overseen and certified by
BenchmarkQA, a leading software performance analysis and quality assurance
firm based in Minneapolis, Minn. Those interested in more detailed tests
