MicroStrategy 7 Provides Enhanced Web-Based Query and Reporting

Full Range of Web-based Interfaces Offer Desktop-like Functionality Through the Ease of Use of the Web

VIENNA, Va., April 20, 2001 - MicroStrategy® Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced that MicroStrategy 7™, its scalable business intelligence platform built for the Internet, now features a full range of Web-based interfaces specifically designed for query and reporting. Companies can choose the interface that best fits their needs from three levels of functionality, from basic report interaction to the most advanced analysis.

The interfaces offer desktop-like analytical functionality through the ease of use of the Web, with features similar to popular consumer Web sites such as Yahoo!. They enable users to create and format reports, drill into corporate data, pivot columns and rows, perform advanced ad-hoc analysis with personal preferences and subscribe to reports on a scheduled basis.

“MicroStrategy 7 makes it very simple for our merchants and inventory managers to quickly access reports through the Web,” said Steve Stone, vice president of MIS operations for Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse. “Easy-to-use, report-manipulation features such as drilling, pivoting and sorting help effectively manage in-stock levels and product selections for our stores.”

“MicroStrategy offers a full range of options over the Web,” said Sid Banerjee, vice president, product marketing, at MicroStrategy Incorporated. “MicroStrategy 7 offers step-by-step guidance during ad-hoc analysis that allows even novice users to perform complex trend analysis and customer segmentation via the Web.”

MicroStrategy 7 provides three different levels of point-and-click web interfaces:

  • Web Viewer™, which allows users to subscribe to and view static reports.
  • Web Reporter™, which delivers enhanced data manipulation and report formatting for query and reporting over the Web.
  • Web Analyst™, which includes the full range of capabilities needed to perform query, reporting and advanced analysis through a Web interface, enabling report creation through advanced prompting.

If interested in the web-based query and reporting of MicroStrategy 7, companies may attend MicroStrategy Partner Summit 2001 on May 8-10 in San Francisco, Calif. To register or for more information, visit www.microstrategy.com/partnersummit.
