April 12, 2001 POS.Com Completes Deployment to 23-Store Restaurant Chain; Gaithersburg, Md. -- POS.Com Technologies recently completed deployment of its unique web-based subscription restaurant management solution to all 23 locations of the Chicken Out Rotisserie chain in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia. After successfully testing the software service at five Chicken Out stores for eight months last year, POS.Com began deploying the solution to the remaining 18 Chicken Out stores earlier this year. POS.Com also recently completed 13 months of delivering pure web-based point-of-sale enterprise application subscription services (ASP) to restaurants. POS.Com is unique; it is the only firm to have operated a solution for so long a period. It is the first provider of real-time, totally pure web-based point-of-sale and e-commerce enabling services, including total connectivity, to the restaurant and food retail service supply chain. "We are excited to have achieved such a milestone with our unique product," said John Rovani, President and Chief Operating Officer of POS.Com Technologies. "Our system is the industry’s first and only real-time connectivity and business application solution. During the past 13 months of continuous operation in real restaurant environments, POS.Com has demonstrated that a restaurant can use real-time software as a service to manage and improve its operations." "POS.Com is transforming our company, giving us real-time connectivity to our people, suppliers and customers," said Randy Gillett, Chicken Out’s Chief Financial Officer. "Profit margins are up, operating costs are down, and we move much more quickly." Rovani said POS.Com is the first company to offer real-time, totally thin client and web-based restaurant and food retail management software subscription services. Operators can view, analyze and manage their business from anywhere they have access to a browser, and closely manage sales, expenditures, inventory, employee schedules and training, and overall operational productivity. POS.Com also provides retailers with the ability to sell their products to consumers over the Internet and, on the back-end, integrate with standard back-office and supply-chain solutions. The company’s innovative solution is fully secure, reliable, scalable and features fail-safe redundancy. The POS.Com solution enables restaurants and other retailers to more accurately forecast sales through better knowledge of their customers and offer specials and coupons to attract them during off-peak hours. The system also is scalable so it is easily adapted to single-unit operators or large chains. POS.Com publicly demonstrated its restaurant management solution for the first time at the Multi-Unit Restaurant Technology Conference 2001 in New Orleans last month. The firm will exhibit its solution at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago next month. Chicken Out Rotisserie is a privately-owned and -operated regional chain of 23 casual restaurants. It operates restaurants in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina, and is expanding to Atlanta, Ga.
