Leading Insurance Company Utilizes Versant's ODBMS To Drive Advanced Executive Reporting and Analysis Application
German Branch of Allianz Group Relies on ODBMS To Handle 40 GB of Complex Data
FREMONT, CA, April 2 Versant Corporation, a leading provider of middleware
infrastructure technology, announced today that a major German division of
global insurance company Allianz Group is using Versant's Object Data Management
System (ODBMS) to simplify administration and speed access to a key 40-gigabyte
reporting and analysis application used by 350 executives and managers.
Allianz Sachgruppe Deutschland, a provider of damage and accident
insurance, has relied on Versant's ODBMS since 1999 for efficient end-to-end
object development, database administration, change management and data access
for its Profit and Loss Application. The program provides integrated
aggregations and views of business activity from thousands of agents
throughout the division, enabling users to make faster and more informed
decisions to maximize the performance of Allianz profit centers.
"Versant's object-based technology plays an important role in enabling us
to handle complex planning and simulations that go far beyond the analytic
capabilities of traditional business intelligence solutions," said Matthias
Dolderer, Applications and Systems Manager, Allianz Analysis Division. "With
the ability to dynamically manage objects, the sheer speed of data retrieval
and processing, and all the other benefits of Versant's methodology, we are
able to perform extremely sophisticated data management and manipulation
significantly faster and more efficiently than we could with a relational
database."
"Given the exceptionally complex nature of their application and the size
of their database, Allianz is a clear example of a company that needs the
flexibility, scalability and performance advantages as well as the
sophisticated query capabilities of an advanced object data management
system," said Adrian Jones, Vice President, European Operations for Versant
Corporation. "Their successful two-year experience with our object DBMS is a
powerful endorsement of our technology."
Versant's ODBMS is the industry's only truly scalable, enterprise-capable
object data management system. Used by more than 650 companies around the
globe, it provides a powerful and flexible server-side query engine that
supports a wide variety of query and index types, including multi-attribute,
case-insensitive and local-specific queries for international character sets.
It maximizes performance through multi-threading and multi-session
capabilities, direct object-to-object navigation of persistent objects, and a
highly scalable dual-cache transaction management system that ensures fast
access to stored objects.
