BEST BUY LOOKS TO INFORMATICA DATA INTEGRATION PLATFORM FOR GREATER BUSINESS INSIGHT

Best Buy to standardize on Informatica PowerCenter across the Company to integrate more than one terabyte of data for strategic analysis

PALO ALTO, Calif., August 20, 2001 – Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today announced that Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) is standardizing on Informatica PowerCenter as its data integration platform. The move to Informatica PowerCenter will help Best Buy achieve more rapid time-to-insight, enhance customer service and optimize business performance by accelerating the process of integrating fast-growing data volumes from numerous enterprise systems.

Best Buy is the leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, appliances and entertainment software in the U.S. The Company anticipates it will open 60 new stores by the end of 2001, projecting that its data volume will grow by 24 percent during this time. Informatica PowerCenter will serve as the Company’s data integration platform, consolidating information from key applications such as customer relationship management (CRM) and e-Commerce.
