Cognos(R) Sales WIN: Hollister Strengthens Business Processes With A Healthy Dose of Cognos
-- Cognos Chosen for its Ability to Effectively and Reliably Interface
to SAP(TM) Business Information Warehouse(TM) (SAP BW(TM)) --
BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Cognos(R)
(Nasdaq: COGN; Toronto: CSN), the world's largest and most successful business
intelligence company, today announced an enterprise agreement with Hollister
Incorporated. Hollister, a global leader in health care product manufacturing
based in Libertyville, Illinois, http://www.hollister.com, will deploy the Cognos
business reporting and analysis solution to connect associates with SAP(TM)
Business Information Warehouse(TM) (SAP BW(TM)). The solution will provide
associates with quick, easy access to information reflecting a united view of
Hollister's global business. It will also enable managers at every level of
the organization to make fast, informed decisions through insights delivered
by Cognos.
The new Web-based Cognos solution satisfies a key business requirement by
facilitating access to corporate data for all employees over a secure
Intranet. Cognos will also optimize the value of Hollister's use of SAP
R/3(R) and SAP BW, acting as a powerful yet easy-to-use "front-end" to these
business applications. SAP BW is the foundation of the mySAP.com(TM) Business
Intelligence and an enterprise-wide data warehouse solution that gives rapid
access to data from SAP solutions, other enterprise applications, and external
sources. Hollister plans to eventually connect customers, suppliers and
partners to the data warehouse through a Cognos Business Intelligence Extranet
solution, giving them access to valuable information to enhance their
effectiveness.
"Business today, is about 'survival of the most informed.' Cognos is a
highly strategic part of our business, putting real-time, actionable
information into the hands of our associates and connecting them to the
business at all times over the Web," said Alex Munro, Director Information
Technology Services, Hollister. "Through our investment in the combined
Cognos and SAP solution, we will accelerate the pace of business processes at
Hollister and gain a distinct competitive advantage."
Cognos applications within Hollister will include sales and marketing,
contract compliance, financial budgeting and reporting, and customer
management. Along with improved customer acquisition and retention, Hollister
anticipates it will reduce the cost of contract compliance by two-thirds with
the rapid insights gained from Cognos.
Hollister cited the following reasons for choosing Cognos:
-- Compatability with SAP solutions -- As a member of the mySAP.com
Software Partner Program, Cognos solutions are certified for successful
interfacing to SAP BW.
-- Solution breadth and depth -- Hollister's solution will include Cognos'
Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), managed reporting, visualization and open
Portal components. The zero-footprint, HTML solution requires no Java plug-
ins, so it's easy to deploy and scalable to the most demanding business
applications.
-- Ease of use -- End-users from senior executives to administrators will
access static, interactive or ad hoc reports with little assistance from
technical personnel. Viewing data in aggregated form, business users can
break down the summaries and analyze more detailed information using Cognos
multidimensional OLAP.
-- Customer and technical support -- Cognos Professional Services has a
five-year track record of making Hollister successful.
"Cognos" product integration with the SAP Business Information Warehouse
allows Hollister to leverage our SAP investment and provide easy-to-deploy
data analysis and reporting via the Web," added Heidi Kendzior, manager, ITS
Strategic Planning, Hollister. "The combination of SAP BW and Cognos' BI
solutions will allow us to embrace e-business and the flexibility of the Web,
optimize business performance, and gain critical insight into what is driving
our business."
"The Internet has decentralized decision-making, and organizations are
recognizing the need to provide information access to all employees," said
Patrick O'Leary, Cognos vice president of strategic alliances. "Cognos
utilizes the Internet's cost-effective delivery capabilities to put critical
business information into the hands of end users at the point of decision,
where they can add immediate business value by making fast, informed decisions
to drive business performance."
