Leading Local Franchisee Banks on CA's eBusiness Management Solution to Ensure Services Across 1500+ Locations
BANGKOK, January 16, 2001 Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), one of the world's foremost eBusiness software leaders, today announced that CP 7-Eleven Public Co., Ltd., 7-Eleven's leading franchisee in Thailand with more than 1,500 7-Eleven retail outlets across the country, has selected Unicenter TNG, CA's award winning eBusiness management solution, as the strategic foundation for a major information systems upgrade.
CP 7-Eleven, which is growing by more than 200 outlets per year, is replacing its in-house developed file transfer system (FTS) with Unicenter TNG's Data Transport Option (DTO). The DTO is mission-critical to CP 7-Eleven's daily operations, handling the movement of ordering and inventory information between headquarters and stores located throughout Thailand. The upgrade is required because CP 7-Eleven's rapid growth is outstripping the capabilities of its current solution and limiting the company's ability to pursue new eBusiness initiatives.
"Our old FTS application could not scale to support our rapidly growing number of retail locations," said Montri Sanghirun, assistant vice president, Information Systems for CP 7-Eleven. "We believe that CA's Unicenter TNG solution will offer us much more effective automation and much more efficient use of our network and systems resources. We were also particularly impressed by the level of support offered by the CA team."
CP 7-Eleven's Unicenter TNG implementation also includes options for remote control, software delivery, Lotus Notes management, and access control.
After extensive evaluations of alternative products, CP 7-Eleven determined that Unicenter TNG would fully meet its current business requirements while supporting future growth and the company's move into the eBusiness arena. CA will provide software and implementation services with the help of in-country partner CDG Microsystems.
"CP 7-Eleven's widely-dispersed network and high volumes of data flow present a tremendous challenge," said Srithong Charoenkornvijit, country manager for Computer Associates (Thailand) Ltd. "CA's solutions, developed for and proven in the world's most demanding retail environments, will deliver significant business advantages very quickly for CP 7-Eleven as the company prepares for its eBusiness future."
Unicenter TNG addresses today's most pressing IT management challenges through a tightly integrated set of core solutions that work together to deliver true end-to-end management of an eBusiness environment. Other Unicenter TNG users in Thailand include Ek-Chai Distribution Systems, Advanced Info Services and DBS Thai Danu Bank.
