DRUGFACTS.com Adds Free Lab Values Analyzer to Assist Medical Professionals in Interpreting Abnormal Lab Results

Unique tool provides normal ranges, clinical practice points, and hundreds of interpretative diagnostic charts

ST. LOUIS, MO, MARCH 23, 2001 - DRUGFACTS.com, the premier drug information resource on the Internet, announces the addition of the Lab Values Analyzer, a free diagnostic aid and online lab value reference tool.

The Lab Values Analyzer assists physicians, pharmacists, and nurses with identifying the cause of abnormal lab results. The online tool identifies diseases, situations, and drugs that can increase or decrease the normal range of a tested value. Information is available for over 100 common lab values and diagnostic tests, including cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, and also for unusual values like ceruloplasmin, haptoglobin, and pyruvate kinase. In the Disease Management section, users can verify normal ranges, view key points and clinical reminders and review diseases, conditions, situations, and drugs that can alter specific lab values. The Lab Values Analyzer is a free service for registered users of DRUGFACTS.com, a site developed by Facts & Comparisons, the leading provider of drug information for U.S. pharmacists.

"Correct interpretation of lab value alterations is a critical requirement in the daily practice of medicine," said John V. Levon, Pharm.D., DRUGFACTS.com's Project and e-Commerce Business Development Manager. "DRUGFACTS.com is pleased to provide this comprehensive tool at no cost to physicians, pharmacists, and nurses throughout the world."

"Whether the cause of an abnormal lab value is a drug a patient is taking, a newly developed disease or other factor, the Lab Values Analyzer can provide a clue to what the cause may be, along with the other key facts about the specific lab value," said Cathy Connolly, Pharm.D., Drug Information Specialist, Facts & Comparisons. "This information may play a key role in the medical management and the patient outcome."

The Lab Values Analyzer and other drug information content on DRUGFACTS.com are also available for licensing by website, PDA, CD-ROM, and systems developers. For more information, contact Facts & Comparisons at (314) 216-2140 or at www.drugfacts.com.
