ClickPremium Implementation Provides Easy, Accurate, Real-Time Decision Support for 1,600 Agents

With competition among insurance providers reaching break-neck levels, Fair, Isaac and Company, Inc. announced today at its annual InterACT Conference that Kemper Insurance has tapped its ClickPremium(TM) real-time underwriting solution to provide the decision support Kemper needs to stay a jump ahead. The use of Fair, Isaac's ClickPremium risk-based underwriting system will enable Kemper's 1,600 agents to make more efficient, better-informed underwriting decisions -- quickly and effectively.
"ClickPremium gives Kemper the ability to overcome many of the most critical issues facing insurance providers today," said Mark Gorman, insurance market vice president for Fair, Isaac. "Among them is the ability to improve loss ratios, increase customer satisfaction and enhance the productivity of its agents by enabling them to focus on high-priority areas."
Kemper began a phased rollout of the real-time underwriting system May 26th with new, personal auto policies in South Carolina and Pennsylvania. Washington will be added by mid-summer. The remaining 47 states will be added incrementally, followed by a similar ClickPremium implementation for homeowner policies.
"With the world moving to real-time decisioning, we needed to have a tool that would work in this environment and allow our agents to write policies virtually, on-the-spot," explained Thom McDaniels, the senior vice president at Kemper who oversaw this project. "And if you believe in real-time decisioning," he said, "then you have to believe in real-time analysis. That was the key difference between Fair, Isaac and other companies. The level of analytic technical expertise that the Fair, Isaac staff brought to this project was truly spectacular," McDaniels said.
Fair, Isaac took a very innovative approach to the Kemper assignment -- pulling together a dedicated implementation team to address the very specific needs, issues and opportunities that Kemper had identified. Working in close collaboration with Kemper Insurance's internal project team, Fair, Isaac customized Kemper's ClickPremium solution, fully integrating it with their internal network. According to McDaniels, the approach exceeded even his expectations in delivering the efficiencies and enhanced performance that everyone set out to achieve less than six months ago.
First introduced last year, ClickPremium is available in either an end-user or netsourced (ASP) mode. It gives insurers the ability to automatically quote, underwrite and bind policies by pulling external information needed to make a decision, from insurance bureau scores to motor vehicle reports to loss information. Companies can use ClickPremium to set and change underwriting rules, determine when to route policies for further review, establish tiers of risk and acceptance, and even generate guidelines for cross-selling. Because decisions are made at a single source, an insurer's offers are consistent across all delivery channels -- agent, customer service representative or Web site. This centralized "e-decisioning" enables rapid response and follow-through, strengthening an insurer's service and improving customer relationship management.
For over 10 years, Fair, Isaac has offered risk and marketing solutions to the insurance industry. Today, Fair, Isaac solutions are behind underwriting, policy renewal and marketing decisions for hundreds of insurers, including 80 percent of the top U.S. personal line insurers.
