FOR SAP Portals Solutions

Integration Combines Business Objects BI Capabilities with Operational Information Enabling Users To Access, Analyze, and Share Key Business Information Through a Single Interface

San Jose, Calif., - October 2, 2001 — Business Objects (NASDAQ: BOBJ), the world’s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the availability of the BusinessObjects Portal Integration Kit for SAP Portals (PIK for SAP Portals). The PIK combines BusinessObjects™ InfoView with SAP Portals, Inc.’s enterprise portal solutions. This integration delivers BI content to the SAP Portal and empowers the user to drag and relate data from Business Objects to applications in the portal, increasing productivity and ease of use.

BusinessObjects PIK for SAP Portals provides users with the ability to access, analyze, and share business intelligence directly from within the SAP Portal, and deploys that information within their organization or even extends it out to their customers, vendors, and suppliers. SAP Portals provides an open platform that gives users the ability to incorporate all types of information products, applications, and technology from a variety of vendors into their portal platform.

Business Objects was one of the first business intelligence vendors to complete the full SAP certification process for BusinessObjects™ 2000. With the certification, Business Objects can deliver the InfoView BI portal to thousands of enterprise portal users worldwide, enabling joint customers to quickly and easily access Business Objects content such as data and reports, thus streamlining their decision-making process. Today’s announcement is an example of how Business Objects continues to execute on its Open Portal Initiative to provide joint customers with business intelligence capabilities and functionality from within their enterprise portals.

"We are a long-standing partner of SAP, and we will continue to align our efforts to support its current and future product evolutions," said Mark Tice, group vice president of global alliances for Business Objects. "The delivery of this portal integration kit is an example of our commitment to extend our alliance and continue integration efforts that benefit our mutual customers."

The BusinessObjects PIK will be available later this year, and will be included in the BusinessObjects Developer Suite. The kit includes the following:
