Business Objects Continues to Lead in Scalability, Publishes Latest Performance Test Results

Tests With Sun Show Dramatic Performance Increase of WebIntelligence 2.6 on Sun Enterprise™ 10000 Server

San Jose, Calif. - November 13, 2001 -- As proof of its corporate commitment to providing highly scalable business intelligence solutions for enterprise and extranet environments, Business Objects (NASDAQ: BOBJ), today announced record-breaking results in its most recent performance tests running in the Sun Solaris™ Operating Environment (OE). Business Objects, a leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, has shown an 80 percent increase in performance statistics of WebIntelligence® 2.6 on the Sun Enterprise™ 10000 server, also known as Starfire™.

Tests performed at the Sun iForceSM Competency Center in Paris, France, simulated 3,600 active concurrent users reading and refreshing reports with thousands of rows and multiple calculations. This workload could correspond to a total population of 36,000 to hundreds of thousands of users, depending on usage patterns. This level of performance and scalability is critical for enterprise-wide business intelligence deployments both within an organization as well as extranet deployments that link companies with their customers, suppliers, and partners.

WebIntelligence is the thin-client query, reporting, and analysis tool from Business Objects. Companies running applications on Sun Enterprise servers can now leverage WebIntelligence 2.6, part of the BusinessObjects 2000 suite, to access, analyze, and share information within and beyond the enterprise. Working together, Business Objects and Sun's platform running the Solaris OE offer a scalable, high-performance solution for business intelligence customers.

"We are extremely pleased with the dramatic results of these tests that prove the scalability of our existing solutions and provide the basis for our ongoing program to outdistance our competitors in scalability and performance," said Mark Tice, group vice president of global alliances at Business Objects. "We are pleased to work closely with Sun on these performance metrics with the common goal of providing customers with fully scalable enterprise solutions."
