SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 08, 2001 - Hyperion, (NASDAQ: HYSL) a global leader in business intelligence software, today announced the newest version of Hyperion Performance Scorecard. By monitoring financial and non-financial measures, Hyperion Performance Scorecard assists organizations in monitoring business performance beyond bottom-line results. This latest version provides a faster, wider range of delivery options to measure performance against internal, as well as external targets, which are tied to corporate goals and strategies.

Hyperion Performance Scorecard 2.0, a Balanced Scorecard Collaborative certified application, advances Hyperion's strategy to create and deliver enterprise-wide business intelligence solutions that enable companies to measure performance and drive profitability.

"Using Hyperion Performance Scorecard, we link corporate strategy and key metrics that also encourage positive organizational behavior," said Judy Filsinger, performance management specialist for Technicolor Cinema Distribution. "By supplementing financial data with a balanced scorecard of customer and internal measures, the application helps us monitor the overall performance of our organization.

"We have already developed 35 scorecards using Hyperion Performance Scorecard 2.0. The performance enhancements in this version are significant - response times are 50 percent faster."

What's New?
Key improvements in this release include a sophisticated measure alerting system to escalate warnings about potentially serious situations. Organizations can also benefit from real time performance measurement using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) to have these alerts sent out to wireless devices, such as PDA's and cell phones. Additionally, version 2.0 is faster and works with a wider selection of application servers, and users have improved access to performance information via Hyperion Analysis Portal.

In addition to supporting leading performance measurement frameworks like The Balanced Scorecard and Andersen's Value Dynamics®, Hyperion Performance Scorecard is the only analytic application to support Stern Stewart's EVA® Scorecard. It also allows for customization of methodology frameworks and quality initiatives such as The Baldrige Criteria and Six Sigma.

"The balanced scorecard supports the design, measurement and association of strategy to measurable business process," said Dr. Henry Morris, vice president, Applications and Information Access, IDC. "Integrating performance measurement and score-carding with other financial processes is an essential element for organizations that want to increase their bottom line in a challenging economy."

Hyperion Performance Scorecard Takes Companies Beyond The Bottom Line
Companies that deploy Hyperion Performance Scorecard can gain a clearer understanding of corporate strategy, objectives and accountability, while proactively monitoring actions and performance against company targets and industry benchmarks. Hyperion Performance Scorecard 2.0 is one of several Hyperion financial and business performance management applications which, when used in concert, can help companies to allocate resources, improve operational efficiency, manage for profitable results and leverage opportunities for growth.

"Economic uncertainty is leading global companies to focus more carefully than ever on the bottom line," said Chris Leone, vice president of Applications for Hyperion. "As a result, it is more important to monitor leading indicators in business performance and identify potential problems before they become a serious threat to profitability."

Hyperion Performance Scorecard tracks financial and non-financial information, such as market share, customer satisfaction, and employee turnover, which can directly impact the bottom line. In addition, it incorporates benchmarking data to help companies set realistic targets, implement best practices and understand how their performance compares with industry peers.

Availability
Hyperion Performance Scorecard 2.0 is available now in English. Hyperion plans to release localized versions in the future.

Hyperion Performance Scorecard 2.0 will be showcased this week at the Hilton San Diego Resort in San Diego, Calif., during the Balance Scorecard North American Summit, an annual conference highlighting new developments and best practices in strategic balanced scorecard implementations. The Balanced Scorecard Collaborative, led by Drs. Robert Kaplan and David Norton, the creators of Balanced Scorecard, is the primary sponsor of the annual summit.
