Brio Performance Suite to be Intuit's Primary Business Intelligence Application

Gives Intuit Decision-Makers Access to Brio Dashboards and Other Reports That Monitor Operations and Improve Company Performance

SANTA CLARA, CA., Dec. 9, 2002 -- Brio Software Inc., a leading provider of next-generation business intelligence tools, today announced that Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), a leading provider of business and financial management solutions for consumers, businesses and accounting professionals, signed a corporate license agreement for the Brio Performance Suite(TM). This agreement expands the number of Intuit decision-makers using Brio technology to more than 1,200 employees across the U.S. These people rely on Brio to provide critical reports and detailed information from which to make strategic and operational business decisions. Reporting for Intuit's critical process excellence performance initiative is conducted with Brio generated dashboards and reports.

"The use of Brio rapidly proliferated throughout Intuit. What was intended to be a small Brio pilot, grew to over one thousand users as they saw how easy it was to create reports on critical operating data," stated Darren Nuckolls, Intuit's Brio application co-manager. "Prior to Brio, some business units had a manual, time-consuming method for creating reports. With Brio, we have dashboards that monitor performance against our process excellence goals, providing decision-makers with summary metrics and the ability to drill into detail."

Intuit generates more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Brio is used throughout Intuit against a wide range of transactional, human resources, financial, and customer management data. Each business unit relies on a customized performance dashboard where decision-makers view summary indicators and reports, drilling into customer and product detail as required. In addition, more than 400 other Brio reports are refreshed daily for decision-maker use.

"The use of Brio is spread throughout Intuit so we had to recognize Brio as a critical enterprise application," asserts Richard Rochon, Intuit's Brio application co-manager. "Each business unit easily creates their own dashboards and reports to best monitor their business. Intuit employees know that if something needs to be measured, it can be done with Brio."

Intuit's contact centers rely on Brio reports that analyze the number of minutes spent on each call, compared to the customer's satisfaction rating for that call, and the sales generated on that call, thus providing contact center management with insight into the effectiveness of each call. With this valuable knowledge, Intuit can adjust call strategy and contact center rep training to improve call performance for its customers.

"Intuit's efforts on their process excellence initiatives require a tremendous amount of metric reporting and operations monitoring," said Neil Patil, Brio Software's vice president of product marketing. "Brio's ability to easily create customized dashboards gives Intuit decision-makers the ability to monitor performance and highlight areas for improvement so that their operational goals are more easily attained."

In addition to the contact center, Intuit's product teams use Brio dashboards to gain an overview of their customer base. By looking at sales by product, marketers can tell if marketing efforts are moving customers to higher-end products. Marketers know which marketing channel appears to be most successful (direct, outbound, retail, etc.) at a given time and determines if efforts need to be made to boost sales in a particular channel. In addition, marketers can immediately see the composition of their customer base, new vs. existing customers.
