SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 9, 2002 -- Brio Software (Nasdaq: BRIO), a leading provider of next-generation business intelligence tools and applications that help Global 3000 companies and numerous government agencies worldwide achieve breakthrough business performance, today announced that the US Air Force has selected Brio Software to help integrate financial information from a variety of existing databases to develop a new budgeting system. The Air Force financial personnel will now be able to leverage all available information assets with personalized interfaces while operating in a secure mode. In addition, they will have access to real-time Web-enabled queries, reports and analysis. The Financial Information Resources System (FIRST), will replace three legacy budget systems to provide more than 5,000 finance managers, located in Air Force bases around the world, with an integrated, performance-based information system. The Air Force selected Brio to become its business intelligence standard over Oracle and Business Objects.

"By utilizing Brio's solutions, US Air Force finance managers have the ability to improve and simplify how budgets are created and implemented, which will ultimately help drive better business performance throughout the organization."

FIRST will be implemented at Headquarters Air Force, all Major Air Force Commands, Field Operating Agencies, Direct Reporting Units and base installations worldwide.
