Win Health Management Technology’s
What Works Award
- Companies Take Top Honors for the use of IT to Solve Business Problems -
Los Gatos, Calif., and Holmdel, N.J. - April 30, 2002 Scheduling.com, the leading application service provider (ASP) for healthcare access management, today announced the company and its customer, Bayshore Community Health Services was awarded first place in the 2001 What Works Award competition, sponsored by Health Management Technology Magazine.
The annual award, announced in the May 2002 issue, recognizes companies for the creative use of IT solutions to solve a variety of healthcare information challenges.
It is based upon case studies that are highlighted in the magazine’s monthly What Works column throughout the year. The scheduling.com/BCHS case study titled "Picture Perfect Solution" appeared in the August 2001 issue of HMT.
"The What Works award is a testament to the hard work and great results that we have achieved with the help of scheduling.com," said Linda Woods, vice president, information services at Bayshore Community Health Services. "After implementing scheduling.com, our radiology department realized a 60 percent increase in ultrasound appointments alone, and vastly enhanced patient care services."
"Bayshore’s story is a prime example of the process improvements and return on investment that healthcare organizations can achieve by implementing an access management solution," said John Holton, CEO of scheduling.com. "We are thrilled that Health Management Technology has recognized Bayshore for its efforts to increase utilization and revenue nearly enterprise-wide."
The What Works Award focuses on benefits of a solution in terms of revenue, savings, productivity or better patient care. Judges from a variety of disciplines in the healthcare industry scored each case history on five criteria: the benefits to the user; the applicability of the solution to the organization’s objectives; the installation; implementation and ease of adoption of the solution; scalability of the solution; and how the solution helped address and overcome technical and administrative challenges within an organization.
"The significance of this award is that it was juried and selected as the first place winner by an independent panel of healthcare IT experts composed of healthcare IT users, consultants and vendors from across the nation, stated Robin Blair, editor HMT. "Their consistent evaluation and selection of this article from among 20 competitive What Works articles in 2001 is a noteworthy commendation, and one that scheduling.com and BCHS should be very proud of."
BCHS implemented scheduling.com in July of 2000, after realizing the need for an enterprise-wide Access Management solution to complement its e-strategy. The hospital uses scheduling.com’s Access Management solution in its radiology and cardiology departments and estimates an increase in annual revenue as a result. BCHS is currently planning an enterprise-wide rollout of scheduling.com.
