Business Objects and Unisys Partner to Provide Business Intelligence to U.S. Federal Government

Unisys Integrates Business Objects Into Enterprise Information Management Solution, Becomes Business Objects Certified Consulting Partner

San Jose, Calif. - May 1, 2002 -- Business Objects (Nasdaq: BOBJ), the world’s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, and Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), an information services and technology solutions company, today announced a partnership to provide Business Objects software as a part of the Unisys Enterprise Information Management (EIM) solution to U.S. federal agencies. Unisys has integrated WebIntelligence®, the internet business intelligence solution from Business Objects, into its EIM solution, allowing federal government customers to access, analyze, and share agency-wide information to improve government efficiency and decision making. With this alliance, Unisys becomes a Business Objects Certified Consulting Partner.

As a result of current world events and increased public demands, federal agencies face heightened requirements to improve communications within their agencies, with state and local government agencies, as well as with the public. They need readily available performance metrics, as well as the ability to share this information to a targeted constituency. The partnership between Unisys and Business Objects will help federal customers meet these performance-oriented requirements through the use of business intelligence.

The Unisys EIM solution allows federal departments, agencies and sub-agencies to unify islands of information and legacy applications by providing an integrated view of the applications and data. WebIntelligence provides users with powerful query, reporting, and analysis capabilities for this unified data.

“Unisys is committed to delivering on our e-Government vision of ‘Unify and Simplify’ by providing our customers with solutions that solve agency challenges,” said Ira Kirsch, president, Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group. “Enhancing our solution with the market-leading business intelligence capabilities from Business Objects provides a tremendous benefit for our customers, allowing them to gain more value from their data - resulting in improved agency operations and constituent satisfaction.”

“The government sector is a fast growing market for Business Objects, and this partnership with Unisys will further broaden our market reach, while providing Unisys customers with better access to critical information and the ability to share this intelligence via the web with their diverse constituencies,” said Greg Lorden, vice president of Government for Business Objects. “The combined strengths of e-Government solutions and strong domain expertise in government business processes from Unisys, with our business intelligence software, provides federal customers with a fully integrated solution to help overcome their data management challenges.”

Unisys and Business Objects will work together to jointly market this solution to prospective government agencies. Federal agencies may now purchase the integrated solution through the GSA IT Schedule.
