IMC HOLDINGS, INC. LOOKS TO COMSHARE® FOR STRATEGIC TOOL TO DRIVE PERFORMANCE AND PROFITABILITY

Ann Arbor, Michigan, May 14, 2002 -- Comshare, Incorporated (NASDAQ: CSRE) announced today that IMC HOLDINGS, INC. and its INTRUPA division, the largest independent worldwide manufacturer and wholesale master distributor to material handling and independent industrial equipment users, is implementing a performance management system with Comshare® corporate performance management (CPM) software, in response to its unprecedented growth and as a tool to share information with its customers. A key function of Comshare MPC™ will be to help the growing company manage bottom-line growth.

Because the company doubled in size in just the last three years, INTRUPA needed a single-source management system. The company had been using its general ledger, ERP, and spreadsheet-based systems, none of which were connected to one another. Comshare MPC is a tool that will keep INTRUPA focused on performance and the company’s strategic objectives. In addition, the software will handle the sizable consolidation, budgeting, forecasting and reporting requirements of IMC HOLDINGS, INC.

The Comshare MPC system will take on the look of a customer resource management system (CRM) when IMC LOGISTICS and its LESAINT LOGISTICS divisions share performance analysis with customers for whom LESAINT LOGISTICS warehouses materials for just-in-time delivery. LESAINT LOGISTICS shares individual statistics with its large customers, often as a reinforcement that it is a trusted supplier, that it performs efficiently, and that it gives customers value-added services — attributes that go a long way toward maintaining a strong business relationship.

“By using Comshare MPC, we expect to get more relevant data to our decision-makers to keep us efficient,” says Lon Purdy, CFO for IMC HOLDINGS, INC. “To stay number one, we need to be a low-cost supplier of value-added services. Efficiency is the only way to be low-cost and Comshare MPC is going to help us achieve that goal.” IMC HOLDINGS, INC. chose Comshare MPC over others for several reasons:

  • Time and money saved — Comshare matches its Microsoft SQL Server IT standard so there was no need to purchase additional database software or to learn a new database.
  • Ease-of-use — Comshare MPC has an intuitive design, with multiple viewpoints giving users the ability to slice-and-dice information.
  • Central repository for large volumes of data — Users get a single version of information in real time.
Comshare MPC takes the sting out of budgeting by significantly reducing the amount of time involved, so IMC HOLDINGS, INC. can use it quarterly to measure operational performance by every division and location and make necessary adjustments. And because Comshare MPC can process multiple currencies, IMC HOLDINGS, INC. will get a handle on its worldwide financial reporting and consolidation using a U.S.-dollar base in the first phase of the Comshare implementation. In phase two, Purdy expects to be able to drill down into each business segment to track managerial performance. Phase three of the Comshare implementation will introduce IMC HOLDINGS’ profit plan and 24-month budget, for each division.

“We expect the Comshare MPC system to give our managers the ability to get operational information that will reinforce what they are doing right and point out where corrective action is needed. Comshare MPC will become a very cost-saving device because we’ll be able to zero in on problem areas and address them, while giving accountability to managers in charge of running their business units,” attests Purdy.
