McLean,
VA, May 30, 2002 - Over the past four years, portals have become
increasingly central to information-driven organizations. Taking
notice, software vendors from fields as diverse as document management,
business intelligence, search and retrieval and content management
have increasingly repositioned themselves as portal vendors so as
to capitalize on this growing and strategic market. This crowding
of the portal space has made it difficult for the horizontal portal
players to differentiate themselves. It has also made it difficult
to look beyond the surface and to effectively evaluate the features
and benefits offered by the leading technology vendors.
Project
Performance Corporation (PPC) launched of a new eBusiness seminar
series titled: Planning a Successful Portal: Best Practices in Strategy,
Selection and Deployment. This seminar series will be launched in
six cities nationwide starting in May 2002, and will run on a quarterly
basis through 2002.
Designed
to help organizations navigate through the maze of information about
Corporate Portals, this one-day seminar will provide decision makers
with a rigorous overview of the portal market. The seminar is divided
into four modules: Module 1 covers the definition and functionality
of Corporate Portals and the evolution of this technology and current
trends in the corporate market space. Module 2 focuses on strategy
and the portal technology selection process; the development of
a business case for a corporate portal initiative; conducting portal
life cycle planning; and evaluating Return on Investment (ROI).
Module 3 focuses on portal deployment best practices. Module 4 covers
a series of portal lessons learned resulting from the deployment
of over 30 portals by PPC over the past four years.
This
seminar series is designed for Chief Information Officers who want
to understand how to develop and map out a portal initiative; IS
Managers and Directors who will be overseeing the portal technology
selection process, portal design, development, and deployment; Departmental
Managers and Business leaders who can learn how to integrate their
information in a portal; and eBusiness Managers who want to ensure
that the Corporate Portal initiative is an integrated component
of the overall eBusiness strategy.
PPC
brings deep knowledge of the portal space, having formed a portal
practice in late 1998. PPC has led over 30 portal deployment initiatives
at Fortune 500 companies, Federal Government agencies, and not-for-profit
organizations. PPC's expertise spans all areas of the portal lifecycle,
including devising a business case, technology selection, deployment
planning, deployment best practices, taxonomy design, ROI analysis,
and lessons learned.
This
seminar series will be offered in New York City, Chicago, Houston,

who, as Portal Deployment Managers, have led such initiatives for
clients including Reebok International, Staples, United Technologies
Corporation, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, American Institute
of Architects, the Rockefeller Foundation, the U.S. Postal Service,
