(May 10, 2002) – SAS, the leader in business intelligence, today announced the formation of the SAS Performance Management Division and named Chris Pieper, the founder and former CEO of newly acquired ABC Technologies, to lead the new division as executive vice president of performance management.
"Performance management helps companies keep their finger on the pulse of their entire business and has been identified by industry analysts as a tremendous growth area," said Jim Goodnight, SAS President & CEO. "Chris has been internationally recognized as a thought leader in the performance management space and will help SAS and our customers harness the intelligence within their organizations to achieve their goals.” The Performance Management Division, which will reside as part of SAS Americas, will sell solutions that enable businesses to quickly obtain accurate, timely information from every arm of their organization, including customers, suppliers, and internal data warehouses. This will be achieved by integrating applications from ABC Technologies with SAS’ own enterprise intelligence software. "SAS is committed to taking a leadership position in the expanding performance management marketplace," Pieper said. "More than ever, business leaders need intelligent applications that help lower costs, streamline operations and improve profits. By integrating our applications and services into a single Performance Management Division, we are operationally aligned to attack this opportunity." The Performance Management Division includes SAS’ existing National Business Solutions Team and Marketing Automation Practice. The National Business Solutions Team, directed by John Loucks, and the Marketing Automation Practice, directed by David Macdonald, will join forces with the former ABC Technologies sales team, headed by former COO of ABC Technologies, Don McDougall. SAS acquired Oregon-based ABC Technologies, Inc., in March, 2002. The acquisition combines SAS' award-winning performance management technology with ABC Technologies' activity-based financial management and expertise for unsurpassed enterprise intelligence.
