INFORMS Computing Society Conference, Phoenix AZ Jan 8-10, 2003

Oct. 19, 2002 The Eighth INFORMS Computing Society Conference "Optimization and Computation in the Network Era" will be held in Chandler (near Phoenix), Arizona, January 8-10, 2003, at the Sheraton San Marcos Resort and Convention Center. The conference web site is http://www.ebrc.psu.edu/ics2003/

We invite you to participate in the meeting.

1. You can make a submission in the "short papers" track by sending in a 200-word abstract to Daewon Sun by Nov 23, 2002.

2. You can organize a session with 3-4 related papers. Please collect titles and abstracts.

3. Conference registration is now open. [Click on registration] Register by December 9 for a lower rate. Hotel rooms are reserved at the Sheraton San Marcos for a special rate of $139, available till December 6.

4. Fourteen papers were selected for presentation and inclusion in the proceedings after a careful review process. For the list of these papers, and the conference plenary address by Dr. John Hooker, please click [program] or [proceedings] at the conference web site.

5. Professor John Hooker from Carnegie Mellon University will give a plenary talk on a "General Framework for Combining Solution Methods."

6. Tutorials

Professor Harvey Greenberg will offer a tutorial on Computational Biology.
Professor Gordon Bradley will offer a tutorial on XML for Modeling and Optimization.
Professor Manuel Laguna will offer a tutorial on Scatter Search.
