NTT America Markets Value-Added IP-VPN Service to Provide Secure Extranet Capabilities for Multinational Corporations

Service caters to the need for cost effective yet secure communications between two virtual private networks

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2002 -- NTT America, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications, the international and long distance service arm of the largest telecommunications company in the world: Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, today announced the availability of a value-added Global IP-VPN service that supplements the company's MPLS-based offering. Supporting seamless and secure communications between all circuits of two pre-designated closed user groups (CUG) of Arcstar Global IP-VPN service, the service is named CUG-CUG Communications service.

Available for MPLS-based Arcstar Global IP-VPN service subscribers in the U.S. and other 87 countries where NTT Communications' Arcstar Global IP-VPN services are currently offered, the service connects two virtual private networks for secure intra-network communications with no change in throughput or latency.

"One of virtues of this service is its ability to support seamless and secure communication between multiple offices and remote locations with no additional hardware or software installation," said David Ryan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NTT America. "With the dynamic nature of business today that often changes sizes and shapes of operations, U.S. multinational corporations are looking for network configurations that provide flexibility and scalability at an affordable cost to accommodate such organizational transformation. With this CUG-CUG Communication service, we will be providing businesses with a closed network environment that best satisfies their particular operational needs."
