Teradata Will Use LSI Logic Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters to Enable Data Warehouse Solutions

Design Win Will Provide 2Gbit PCI-to-Fibre Channel HBA Offering the Highest Density, Four-Port Module in a Short Card Form Factor for Data Warehouse Applications

MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 6, 2003 -- LSI Logic (NYSE: LSI) announced today that Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, is a new customer for LSI Logic Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBA). The quad-channel ITI7004G2-LC HBA ( http://adapters.lsilogic.com ) will enable operation of the NCR6840 Quad Modular Fibre Channel Disk Array, which is a key component in large parallel processing systems that have been designed by Teradata for active data warehousing. The design win for LSI Logic reinforces the company's leadership position in the highly price-competitive, 2Gbit PCI-to-Fibre Channel market segment.

The LSI Logic ITI7004G2-LC Fibre Channel HBA features four independent 2Gbit (400 MBps, full duplex) Fibre Channel ports for maximum connectivity. The 4-channel card saves valuable PCI slots and offers lower latency and system cost than alternatives that require switches. The board uses the LSI Logic Fusion-MPT(TM) (Message Passing Technology) architecture, which allows for optimal, robust performance and design flexibility.

The NCR6840 Fibre Channel storage solution incorporates both LSI Logic Fibre Channel modular disk array technology and NCR value-add technology to provide a solution that is tightly integrated into the Teradata Data Warehouse environment.
