(http://www.survey.com/products/olap2/). The OLAP Survey 2, by independent industry analyst Nigel Pendse in co- operation with Survey.com, surveyed 2,236 current and potential OLAP users from around the world. The survey was not vendor sponsored or influenced. The report determined that Cognos has a higher than average deal win rate over competitor France-based Business Objects as well a higher than average win rate against competitors overall. According to the report, Cognos also continues to surge ahead in Web and Extranet deployments. "Business Objects and Cognos often argue over which has the highest Web deployment. According to the results, Cognos is well ahead. In the previous survey, Cognos was also ahead, but it has increased its lead this year," said Nigel Pendse, author of The OLAP Report and The OLAP Survey. The report indicates that SAP and Cognos moved to the overall industry lead in terms of Extranet deployments among OLAP customers, with many organizations planning ambitious Extranet deployments within two years. With commanding industry mindshare, Cognos OLAP is being evaluated by more companies, according to the survey. Cognos OLAP also has a lower shelfware rate than that of Business Objects. Respondents also indicated that Cognos was the most broadly deployed OLAP tool in balanced scorecard deployments. Cognos also holds top spot as the OLAP leader in the IBM DB2 user base. "This independent survey of OLAP users around the world underlines the continued market leadership of Cognos OLAP. The findings demonstrate our commitment to customer satisfaction and solution excellence - a commitment that drives our clear customer loyalty and market momentum," said Dave Laverty, senior vice president, global marketing, Cognos.
