Open Text to Offer Team Collaboration Suite

Adds Support For Widely Used Team Methodology to Online Meetings

CHICAGO, IL, Jan. 14, 2003 -- Open Text(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq:OTEX) (TSX:OTC), provider of Livelink(R), the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, said today it will offer its popular online meeting tool and a team application based on a proven collaboration methodology as a single package to support effective virtual teaming. The combined offering will make it easier for customers to purchase and add the integrated capabilities, which include the online meeting tool, Livelink MeetingZone(TM), and the team collaboration module Livelink virtualteams(TM) developed with Open Text Affinity Partner NetAge, Inc.

Called the Livelink Team Collaboration Suite, the solution uniquely supports virtual work by providing geographically dispersed teams with a powerful combination of technology, and best practices and methodologies that have been proven to make virtual teams more effective. Previously, Livelink MeetingZone and Livelink virtualteams worked together, but had to be purchased as separate modules.

"Much of the mission-critical team work in large corporations is being managed by people spread across the globe who depend on technology to stay connected," said Anik Ganguly, Executive Vice President of Products at Open Text. "With the Livelink Team Collaboration Suite, we're making it easier for companies to deploy a complete set of integrated collaborative tools across the enterprise and helping teams overcome the inherent challenges of working online."

MeetingZone provides an online meeting environment with features that help teams conduct more productive meetings. Users can share information easily and utilize a host of tools for more interactive sessions. MeetingZone also ensures meeting follow-up through task lists, the option to reconvene meetings with one click, and the ability to automatically capture meeting information in the Livelink repository.

Livelink virtualteams offers online workspaces for virtual teams, combining tools, utilities and content in an intuitive environment that encourages people in project teams to work together. Livelink virtualteams is based on NetAge's Virtual Teams Methodology(TM), developed after 20 years of research by collaboration experts and NetAge executives, Jessica Lipnack and Jeffrey Stamps. A recent Gartner report on critical success factors for virtual teams included a profile of Open Text customer the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, and the success of a 12-person team using Livelink virtualteams to develop a value-based management system for the company's Chemicals Division.

"The Livelink virtualteams module intuitively guides users through the steps that make their work easier, and puts the relevant process information at their fingertips," says Ben Krutzen, Chairperson for the Global Livelink Network of Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies.
