General Dynamics Selected to Integrate Next-Generation Electronic Warfare Ground System for U.S. ArmyProphet System Provides Mobile, Tactical Signals Intelligence, Situational Awareness and Communications Disruption Capabilities SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 12, 2003 -- General Dynamics Decision Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been chosen by the U.S. Army as the prime contractor and systems integrator for a $19.9 million program to upgrade the Prophet tactical signals intelligence system. Comprising electronic components that are either vehicle-mounted or man-transportable, the Prophet Block II/III system will provide brigade commanders with significantly improved electronic surveillance capabilities and a new electronic attack capability. The Block II/III upgrade will enable tactical commanders to securely and accurately detect, identify, locate and deter a wide range of enemy signal emissions on the battlefield. With two or more system vehicles netted together, Prophet will determine the bearing of a radio signal and build an electronic emitter map display of those signals. Prophet Block II/II will provide an integrated electronic attack capability enabling commanders to disrupt enemy operations, protect friendly forces and prevent the passing of potentially damaging information. "Our team's strong signals intelligence systems integration capabilities and solid understanding of the Army's needs will enable us to deliver critical early warning and attack capabilities to deployed commanders," said Manny Mora, vice president of integrated systems at General Dynamics Decision Systems. "Prophet Block II/III will provide a decisive advantage to our forces on the battlefield and support the greater ISR sensor grid that the Army envisions for transformation and Objective Force."
