OpenEAI Project Releases Functional Open Source Sample Enterprise

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., March 13, 2003 -- The OpenEAI Software Foundation today released the first version of the OpenEAI Sample Enterprise, comprised entirely of open source software. The sample enterprise consists of a set of working components developed exclusively with the OpenEAI foundation APIs and supporting technologies. It allows users to explore the OpenEAI foundation and development techniques and provides an opportunity to see OpenEAI components work together in an integrated example enterprise.

A decent laptop or PC is all that is needed to run the sample enterprise.

The messaging applications and artifacts included in the sample enterprise are:

-- An example ERP system message gateway

-- An example self-service application, which communicates with the ERP system

-- An example information warehouse gateway that consumes messages and applies them to decision support structures

-- A message router for routing synchronization messages to applications that need to consume them

-- A message proxy for implementing request message filtering and security

-- A message logging service that persists messages both for historical purposes as well as for trouble shooting errors that may occur when processing messages

-- A test suite application for testing the message functionality of example ERP system and to publish sync messages throughout the sample enterprise

-- A message object API generation application for generating an API which is used by applications to interact with other systems in the sample enterprise

-- Source code for all example messaging applications developed for the sample enterprise

-- A detailed "Getting Started with OpenEAI" guide with detailed instructions for installation and use of the sample enterprise
