Version 8.1 of the Popular Business Intelligence Suite Delivers Support for Leading UNIX Operating Systems and Localized Languages

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 27, 2003 -- Brio Software Inc. (Nasdaq: BRIO), a leading provider of next-generation business intelligence tools, today announced Brio Performance Suite(TM) 8.1. This upgrade offers improved enterprise performance and scalability with support for three major UNIX(R) operating platforms: IBM AIX(TM), Hewlett-Packard HP-UX, and Sun Solaris(TM). Brio is also expanding the global reach of Brio Performance Suite 8.1 by delivering localized Windows versions of the suite in nine languages.

Web-based Application Services

The Brio Performance Suite 8.1 offers enhanced Web-based application services by supporting the following enterprise platforms:

-- Apache 1.3 or higher (with JRUN)

-- Sun ONE Application Server

-- WebLogic(TM) 6.x SP3 or higher

-- WebSphere(R) 4.0.3 or higher

Global Availability

This week, Brio is also launching and shipping Brio Performance Suite 8.1 globally. Through Brio's direct sales and reseller partnerships, the suite is available in approximately 80 countries. The Windows version of the product has been localized into nine languages (in addition to English) including Chinese - Simplified, Chinese - Traditional, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese - Brazilian, and Spanish.

Brio Performance Suite 8.1 for the Solaris Operating System is generally available as of May 2003. International language support on Windows is also generally available as of May 2003. Support for IBM AIX will be available in June 2003, and a version for HP-UX will be shipping later this summer.
