SAS Forms Partnership with Leading Risk Management Expert

- Alexander Serving as Risk Research Adviser -

CARY, N.C., May 6, 2003 -- SAS, the leader in business intelligence, announced today that Carol Alexander, a recognized thought leader in risk management, has agreed to serve as a risk research adviser for the company. As a consultant, Alexander will provide additional direction and guidance to SAS' product development and strategy team for risk management. She will focus specifically on the development of SAS' risk analysis solutions, using the foundation of SAS' current solutions for market, credit and operational risk management.

Alexander is the author of several books and papers in international academic and professional journals. She is the chair of risk management and director of research at the UK's ISMA Centre, the Business School for Financial Markets at the University of Reading. She also serves as chair of the academic advisory council of the Professional International Risk Management Association.

Her career in academia and business includes work at Algorithmics Inc., Nikko Holdings, Sussex University and Amsterdam's Gemente Universiteit. Since 1990, Alexander has focused much of her career on developing risk and investment analysis models, in particular software for risk management, portfolio optimization and trading.
