Sabre Airline Solutions Announces New Profitability System Calibration Tool; Signs Four Global Carrier Agreements for System's Enhanced Decision-Support CapabilitiesNew Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager Calibration Tool Enhances Forecasting of Airline Passenger Demand, Traffic, Revenue and Costs SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Oct. 1, 2003 -- Sabre Airline Solutions announced today that it has upgraded the calibration tool for Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager, a system used by airlines worldwide to better forecast passenger demand, traffic, revenue and costs. The new calibration tool, a graphical user interface-based (GUI) add-on used to streamline the calibration of market information, was well received by carriers around the globe. During 2Q 2003, Qantas, Aeroflot, Aeromexico and Gulf Air all signed on for registered versions of the new calibration tool. "In today's extremely competitive global market, making right decisions quickly is more important than ever," said Amr Junaid, Systems Project Leader of Commercial Planning and Network Development for Gulf Air. "With the new calibration tool offered by the Sabre AirFlite suite, we can reduce the time it takes to gather market calibration information, and concentrate more on analyzing that data and making decisions that allow us to introduce more profitable routes and schedules." Sabre Airline Solutions now offers two versions of the calibration tool -- the standard version and the registered version. The standard version -- offered without additional charge to Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager users -- performs statistical tasks to support passenger forecasting, including preparing and validating input data, estimating origin and destination (O&D) market sizes, calibrating passenger preferences, assigning passenger segmentation and validating forecast results against historical data. Sabre Airline Solutions customers choosing the calibration tool maintenance option receive additional features, available in the registered version only. These include: -- Market Size Adjustment -- an enhanced market size estimation method that improves leg-level forecast accuracy; -- Connection Builder Transparency -- a utility that allows users to determine which itineraries in a market will be built in Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager, reducing time spent in connection validating and allowing transparency to the connection building process; and -- Connection Building Potential -- a utility that allows the user to choose a flight leg and quickly see which inbound and outbound connections are valid in the Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager system. The latest release of the calibration tool supports Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager's recently launched Release 10. Registered users of this release can employ client/server technology that provides the following: -- The ability to run the calibration tool GUI on the user's PC and submit the runs on a server. -- A job scheduler that speeds up the entire calibration process by scheduling runs and building run dependencies. -- A job monitor that offers updated status reports for each run. "There's no substitute for getting to market first with schedules and routes that are both in demand and profitable," said Steve Clampett, Sabre Airline Solutions vice president of Airline Products and Services. "In the past, carriers could take from 12 to 18 months to do an initial calibration for forecasting tools. Today's announcement whittles that down to approximately three months or less, and reduces the time to perform recurring calibration tasks as much as fourfold. This speeds time to market with new processes and ideas and enhances the decision-making capabilities of key airline executives."
