InTouch Delivers Web Based, Intuitive and Secure Patient Information for McKesson HIS Database

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 18, 2003 -- Perceptus (http://www.perceptus.net), a company specializing in healthcare software has released InTouch, a product that allows physicians and staff to easily access patient information using only a web browser. The software is intuitive and simple to use allowing access to results, transcriptions, (including support for Arrendale Associates TA and SoftMed), orders, insurance, demographics, images, (MedRecsPlus, IBM WAF) census, and other desired patient information. InTouch is fully compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) and securely delivers patient information for McKesson's Series 2000 customers.

Many hospitals have not yet accepted internet based patient information systems due in part to patient confidentiality concerns and provisions contained in HIPAA that identifies large financial penalties for divulging confidential information. InTouch delivers patient information to physicians and staff in a highly secure environment. Hospitals don't want just bits and pieces but proven integrated turnkey solutions that address every part of information delivery from the web server all the way to the physician's desktop.

A partial list of how InTouch is made HIPAA compliant:

* Two factor authentication for access

* System generates random one time password

* Logs what each user views and if it is viewed again after the data changes

* Physicians only see patients they have a relationship with

* Data is encrypted (128 Bit SSL) to the desktop

* Automatic cover page feature to protect viewed information

* Automatic logoff after specified time of no activity

* Change of token access PIN allowed by end userv * Ability to lock access to selected physical PC's for a user

The system does not require an external interface engine or other product to clone or duplicate information to another system. This eliminates the duplication of confidential patient information. Because data is retrieved directly from the HIS (Hospital Information System) residing on the AS400 it provides immediate posting of the most accurate and timely information for physicians.

Purchase price is $75,000 for a single CPU. There is a $25 30-day fully functional trial available via the Perceptus web site. Reseller inquiries are invited.
