SAIC Team Wins USSTRATCOM Contract

SAIC to Support all USSTRATCOM Related Missions Systems Through USAMS Contract

MCLEAN, VA and OMAHA, NE, September 03, 2003 - SAIC today announced a contract award to support U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) missions, systems and tasks, their subordinate and supporting agencies and component commands. This continues a longstanding 17-year relationship SAIC has had in supporting USSTRATCOM and predecessor organizations in Omaha.

Under the terms of the USSTRATCOM Systems and Missions Support (USAMS) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA), multiple awards were made to six companies including SAIC, pre-qualifying them to bid for task orders under this indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract which has a total estimated value of $100 million. Support under this contract will be performed over one base year, with four option years to renew.

"Our successful relationship with USSTRATCOM spans almost two decades, and this win allows us to continue dedicating our high caliber scientists, technologists and engineers to programs of national importance," said Irv D. Reid, senior vice president and manager of SAIC's Command, Control, Communications and Information Technology Group. "The USAMS contract is a key ingredient to USSTRATCOM's future successes, as it will provide the agility needed to immediately implement and sustain new mission capabilities."

Under this contract, a team led by SAIC will provide mission support to USSTRATCOM and the U.S. Air Force Weather Agency at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Neb. This will include the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment, Global Strike, Integrated Missile Defense, Information Operations, global C4ISR, strategic war planning and execution, strategic analyses and assessments, space control, space support, force enhancement, and force application.

This support also will include all USSTRATCOM-related systems such as the Strategic War Planning System, USSTRATCOM C2 (command and control) systems, command infrastructure, common-user and dedicated satellite control networks, the space surveillance network, the missile warning systems, current and future operational spacecraft programs, national/ballistic missile defense systems, computer network defense and attack capabilities, current and future commercial programs, a family of tactical space systems, national space systems, and space launch vehicles to include new generation, expendable and reusable launch vehicles and the overall integration of the various mission areas Concept of Operations. This effort also supports intelligence, intelligence-related, and information assurance systems.

SAIC subcontractors include ACS Defense Inc., based in Burlington, Mass.; Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., and Cirrus Technology, both based in Huntsville, Ala.; National Security Research Inc., based in Washington D.C.; The Peter Kewitt Institute, based in Omaha, Neb.; SI International, based in McLean, Va.; BD Systems, based in Torrance, Calif.; Vanguard Research International, based in Arlington, Va.; 21st Century Systems Inc., based in Herndon, Va.; Muniz Engineering Inc., based in Houston, Texas; and Shape Technologies LLC, based in Colorado Springs, Colo.
