Partners Share Vision of 21st Century Retail; Tomax Participates in Oracle(R) Database 10g Beta Program

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Sept. 9, 2003 -- At OracleWorld 2003, Tomax Corporation, a Certified Advantage Partner of the Oracle(R) PartnerNetwork, announced its support of the Oracle(R) Database 10g, by testing an early release of the software. Tomax was a participant in beta evaluations of the Oracle Database 10g, providing insight to Oracle's next-generation database technology, to provide customers with top-notch software for the retail industry.

Tomax Retail.net(R) applications, powered by Oracle technology, enable enterprise-wide visibility and control of retail processes -- a concept known as retail-in-realtime. The joint Tomax and Oracle solution is deployed over safe, secure wide area networks at a fraction of the infrastructure and hardware costs compared to costs for the traditional retail environment.

The Tomax Retail.net suite of applications leverages unique features only available in the Oracle Database 10g. For example, Tomax utilizes the virtual private capabilities of Oracle Database to control store level access, restricting local rights for a particular store's personnel at the database level, while at the same time providing a holistic view of the entire chain for corporate users. By leveraging proprietary features offered by the Oracle Database 10g, Tomax reduced its development costs while creating secure, high performance applications.

"Tomax and Oracle share a vision we call retail-in-realtime: the idea that cost and complexity can be removed from hundreds (even thousands) of store locations and replaced with a single centrally hosted instance of the Retail.net suite on Oracle technology," noted Eric Olafson, president and CEO of Tomax Corporation. "We're excited by the direction of Oracle Database development for this space, which heralds a revolutionary new way of doing business. Together Oracle Database 10g will help Tomax redefine the way a retailer runs its enterprise, from headquarters and distribution centers to stores."

"One advantage of the unique Tomax and Oracle relationship is the ongoing collaboration between our strategists and software engineers," remarked Tom Madigan, Oracle's vice president, Retail. "Tomax and our joint retail customers can take advantage of Oracle investments in R&D to deliver forward- looking solutions to the retail industry."

Tomax was named 2002 Independent Software Vendor of the Year by Oracle PartnerNetwork, signifying the partners' commitment to a shared vision for retail technology.
