Fiat Group Chooses Hyperion For Its Business Performance Management Strategy

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 20, 2004 - Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced that FIAT Group, one of the world’s leaders in the automotive industry, has chosen Hyperion Business Performance Management software as its unified platform for managing its statutory consolidation, management and group treasury reporting activities.

By the end of this year, FIAT Group will be using Hyperion’s software for reporting and consolidation in compliance with the IAS/IFRS principles of both its financial statement and forecast information. By implementing the new solution, FIAT Group aims to improve the current level of information available to the group’s decision makers in terms of timeliness, accuracy, detail and reliability. Hyperion’s solution will enable the company to keep track of information related to its financial statements and provide consistent reporting procedures across the group’s different business units. In addition, the software will allow users to perform multidimensional navigations based on field, legal entity and business unit views.

With the creation of a global process based on Hyperion’s software, FIAT Group aims to reduce the time it takes to complete its financial statements consolidation and reporting cycle. The group will also decrease the need for manual processes, such as balancing consolidated and import/export data, and improve the cost/performance ratio for the management of administrative processes. Other expected key benefits include: the elimination of redundant IT systems; the time reduction of system maintenance; and greater integration between the institutional reporting, directional and treasury activities as well as the production, field, administration and control systems.

“We are pleased that a major automotive company such as FIAT has chosen Hyperion for its Business Performance Management strategy, said Rich Clayton, vice president of product marketing at Hyperion. By enabling the integration of the business and finance management cycles and the various data coming from back-office systems, Hyperion’s software will help ensure that the decision-making process within the whole organization is aligned with the strategic goals of the group.

Headquartered in Turin, Italy FIAT Group has clients in more than 190 countries worldwide through its various groups: Fiat Auto, Ferrari and Maserati (automotive); CNH (agricultural and construction equipment); Iveco (commercial vehicles); Magneti Marelli (components); Comau (production systems); Teksid (metallurgical components); Business Solutions (services) and Itedi (publishing and communications).
