Hyperion Essbase: Powerful Analytics Drive Enterprise-Wide Performance

Mentor Graphics and EuroMaint to Highlight Versatility of Hyperion Essbase in Sales, Human Resources and Financial Analysis at Solutions 2004

CHICAGO, Hyperion Solutions 2004 Conference, April 26, 2004 -- Customers including Mentor Graphics and EuroMaint will showcase the innovative uses of Hyperion Essbase for sales, human resources and financial analysis at Hyperion's (Nasdaq: HYSL) Solutions 2004 conference. The companies are among the more than 100 customers presenting at Solutions 2004, the world's premier event for Business Performance Management.

"Powerful analytics have been used to great effect in finance departments for years," said Rich Clayton, vice president of product marketing for Hyperion. "The revolution in analytics is driving performance across the entire enterprise. It requires scalability and power, and a rich development environment conducive to building great custom applications. Hyperion Essbase has long been the gold standard for powerful analytics and the customers featured at this year's event are living it every day."

Hyperion Essbase is a key component of the Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform. It offers the most advanced analytic environment for developers, and brings more power, flexibility, performance and scalability for business analysts and other end users.

Mentor Graphics, a technology leader in electronic design automation (EDA), has used Hyperion Essbase, which draws information from a data warehouse, since 1998 for its sales reporting, human resource analytics, planning, forecasting and financial consolidation.

"We have a large user base -- more than 250 worldwide -- accessing Hyperion Essbase for planning and forecasting, as well as multiple users leveraging it for sales and human resource data," said Jan-Willem Beldman, enterprise data architect at Mentor Graphics. "SAP HR is used worldwide and integrates with Hyperion Essbase to provide business users with ad-hoc reporting and analysis."

EuroMaint is a Scandinavia-based manufacturer of technical services for railway vehicle and industry maintenance. The company was in need of a reliable solution for following up on and analyzing its business performance, with the possibilities of modeling and simulation. EuroMaint required a solution that could expand after deployment, and would work with its budget and planning applications.

"Hyperion Essbase helps us measure performance compared to our strategic goals, and also communicate the key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout the organization," said Ann-Charlotte Agren, group controller at EuroMaint. "Once a month, management now receives reports from all business units and can easily follow up on and evaluate company performance. The numbers can be compared over time and with other companies to track discrepancies, profitability drivers and costs."
