HUNTSVILLE, Ala., April 18, 2005 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced Preetha Pulusani, President, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions, will address attendees at the 8th Global Spatial Data Infrastructure conference (GSDI-8), being held today through April 21 in Cairo in conjunction with the annual International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week 2005. Pulusani will discuss the role of open spatial enterprises in helping national, regional and local governments make smarter decisions as they face natural or man-made disasters or day-to-day business challenges.

The event brings together participants from around the globe to focus on the policies, technologies and applications for enabling a spatially interoperable world through open, interoperable spatial data infrastructures (SDIs). Professionals representing national and local government organizations; mapping and cartography agencies; academic and research organizations; and geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS) and remote sensing suppliers will explore land information management (LIM) and land surveying and geodesy technologies, which are defining the data sources that establish SDIs.

Commenting on the conference, Pulusani said, "Open spatial enterprises are the starting point for sharing spatial data with security, scalability and manageability in a global environment. We applaud the standards and initiatives that are being discussed at GSDI-8 to foster the evolution of spatial data infrastructures among organizations worldwide."

To promote the further adoption of global SDIs, Intergraph is also hosting one of six pre-conference workshops. Intergraph's workshop, "Evolution of Standards Today - A Solid Foundation for Information Management Tomorrow," will showcase interoperable and industry, open standards-based Web and desktop technologies for developing and maintaining interoperable SDIs and LIM systems. Highlights of the workshop include customer implementation successes and Oracle(R)'s participation with services-oriented architectures and enterprise data management presentations.
