Oracle Press Release Java, XML and Oracle9i(tm) Make A Great Team REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Dec. 22, 2000 - Internet developers worldwide are using Java and XML together to build the next generation of dynamic, content-rich applications on Oracle9i. In a recent survey conducted at Oracle(r) OpenWorld 2000, 72% of Oracle(r) developers working with XML choose to use Java over C/C++ as their preferred programming language. Based on Internet standards, Java and XML work hand-in-hand to enable the exchange of any data across multiple operating systems, applications, browsers and wireless devices. As the industry's first software company to embrace -- across its entire platform -- Java, XML, SQL, and PL/SQL, Oracle plans to continue its complete support of all Internet standards ratified by the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C). "Java and XML complement each other very well," said Tyler McDaniel, senior analyst of Application Strategies, Hurwitz Group. "Java is ideal for writing components and applications that run anywhere, and XML is the default format for defining e-business data because it is fully extensible and flexible. Java brings to e-business applications the portability that XML brings to e-business data."
