Documentum Achieves Compliance with U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 - STD Chapter 4 for Management of Classified Records

Receives Special Security Certification for Enterprise Records Management

PLEASANTON, CA, June 4, 2003 -- Documentum (Nasdaq: DCTM), the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that its Documentum Enterprise Records Management Edition has met strict security requirements to receive U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 - STD Chapter 4 certification for the management of classified records. As one of the first providers to receive this new certification, Documentum continues its push into government markets, military and intelligence communities and organizations with highly demanding records management security requirements.

The DoD 5015.2 - STD Chapter 4 certification was created in June 2002, to help ensure the security of official records and meet the government's information-sharing requirements, specifically for classified information. The certification is required for all records management solutions implemented by the DoD and other federal agencies that deal with classified content. The Documentum Enterprise Records Management Edition is already certified against the DoD 5015.2 and with plans for additional certifications with the UK Public Record Office standards for electronic recordkeeping systems and the Victoria Electronic Records Standard of Australia. These are all widely accepted benchmarks that are being adopted as guidelines for recordkeeping policies in both the public and private sectors. The comprehensive Documentum solution helps organizations to address various requirements for the retention of classified messages, financial documents and other electronic and physical records regulations.

Department of Defense 5015.2 Standard

The 5015.2 standard was developed by the U.S. Department of Defense as the set of basic requirements that recordkeeping systems must meet to be used by the military. It specifies 118 criteria ranging from how records must be created to how they may be destroyed and includes security requirements, accessing characteristics, metadata requirements and similar criteria. The standard is used by other government organizations in selection and implementation of recordkeeping systems. It is a widely accepted benchmark within the U.S. and is being adopted as a guideline for recordkeeping standards and policies throughout the world.
