New Mindjet Software Captures the 'Meet' of Meetings

MindManager X5 Pro Uses XML to Speed Collaboration, Information Analysis, and Business Planning

NEW YORK, Sept. 16, 2003 -- Mindjet, the leading provider of visual tools for brainstorming and planning, today introduced MindManager X5 Pro, the first XML-based business mapping software. Most collaboration tools focus on creating online meeting rooms in which people can share documents and send emails. By focusing instead on the collaborative process itself, MindManager X5 Pro helps teams reach decisions sooner and implement plans more quickly. In MindManager-led meetings, business teams create concise, visual representations of the thinking and planning that evolves during the collaborative process. Using MindManager X5 Pro to pull together information from emails, documents, databases, and Web services, team members create plans and strategies based on that information. Then they use MindManager X5 Pro's new XML open interface to push those ideas and actions into Microsoft(R) Office tools, scheduling and project management applications, information systems, and databases.

MindManager X5 Pro will be on display Sept. 16-18 at TechXNY/PC Expo, Booth #2306, and will retail for $299. MindManager X5, which includes most features except XML extensibility, will retail for $199. MindManager X5 Pro and X5 will be available Oct. 8 at http://www.mindjet.com and via resellers (see http://www.mindjet.com/us/sales/sales_reseller.php ).

"We used MindManager to finish in four months a global IT restructuring project originally scheduled for 16 months-and cut overall IT expenses by more than 35 percent at the same time," said Rick Hamilton, IT vice president of DFS Group, San Francisco-based subsidiary of luxury retailer Louis Vuitton. "The biggest benefit we get from MindManager is the way it creates a very participatory meeting environment, enabling our teams to quickly capture best thinking and make those ideas immediately actionable."

MindManager X5 Pro features a significantly enhanced user interface, improved Microsoft(R) Office interoperability and Web export, 1000 new images, and Unicode support. System requirements include: Windows(R) NT 4.0 SP6 / 2000 / XP Professional or Home, Microsoft(R) Office 2000 / XP, Pentium 233 MHz or higher, 128 MB RAM or greater, 150 MB disk space, 800x600 resolution or higher, and 16-bit / 65K colors or higher.

"The popularization of XML is opening up a whole new world for knowledge workers," said CEO Bettina Jetter. "MindManager X5 Pro takes advantage of XML technology by enabling teams to access information from a wide range of sources from legacy databases to Web services, analyze the information in a productive visual environment, then use XML to push their decisions into existing applications and business processes. Success is all about the time it takes to go from initial input to action. MindManager X5 Pro really speeds up that process."
