SIG DSS pre-ICIS Workshop
Call for Participation

This workshop has two goals:

1. To exhibit the latest advances in DSS research and applications.
2. To interactively examine how to extend DSS research and
applications to include methods and technologies used primarily
   in other disciplines.

The first goal will be addressed through traditional paper presentations
and panel discussions. DSS researchers and practitioners are encouraged to
submit papers describing work (including work in progress) that describes
leading edge DSS theory and implementation. Of particular interest are
papers that incorporate a technology such as digital media. Proposals
related to demonstrations of DSS software and panel discussions also will
be considered.

The second goal will be addressed by providing a forum for the discussion
of new ideas and approaches. Truly innovative ideas, even those still in
the embryonic stage, are solicited. Researchers and practitioners are
encouraged to submit designs for DSS and / or research that begin to
examine how to move DSS into supporting very complex problem situations.

Sample topics that would be welcomed include

-- incorporating support for multiple perspectives of problems
-- including affective information in the decision-making process
-- integrating concepts from other disciplines such as theater arts into DSS

No topic should be considered too unusual. This workshop seeks to glimpse
the future of DSS. Potential participants are encouraged to email me to
discuss submission topics.

Tentative deadlines:
Abstracts due June 1, 2004
Panel proposals and papers due August 1, 2004
Notice of acceptance / rejection September 1, 2004

Note: Panel proposals must have firm commitments from participants by
September 1, 2004 to be accepted.
