Provenir platform supports auto lending; software supports loan origination decisioning process and allows easy system updates

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Nov. 14, 2005 -- Provenir, a leading provider of enterprise software for managing the customer lifecycle, today announced that AmeriCredit Corp. has implemented an automated loan originations system using Provenir Platform software. The Provenir software lets AmeriCredit quickly return credit decisions that incorporate all relevant data and a consistent set of corporate lending criteria. Decision logic can be updated on a more frequent basis than was previously possible while guaranteeing its use for all submitted applications.

AmeriCredit underwrites retail installment contracts for automobile purchases throughout the United States. Auto dealers use online systems such as DealerTrack to submit information about an applicant to the underwriting system. AmeriCredit validates data, verifies initial requirements, collects additional data from third-party sources as needed to supplement the application data, and approves or declines the loan. Approved loans receive pricing and terms that are returned through the online system to the auto dealer. The entire process is usually completed in a matter of seconds.

"The Provenir Platform will benefit AmeriCredit in two ways," said Steve Bowman, chief credit and risk officer for AmeriCredit. "First, the new system is capable of processing a tremendous volume of applications with enhanced automation to support our lenders in the field. Secondly, and just as important, is our ability to rapidly update our lending criteria in a well-managed and structured process."

Maintaining and updating credit-decision criteria is an ongoing process as new laws are introduced at local and national levels, as the competitive marketplace shifts, and as the company refines its business policies to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Previously, AmeriCredit utilized external resources to update its systems and stay current with business needs. At that time, release schedules and programmer availability could delay implementation of changes. Provenir's unique visual orientation for workflows, decision processes and supporting data collection screens lets AmeriCredit more easily find and manage key lending criteria. In the first two months of implementation, the company was able to release four minor updates and refinements to its production logic. The ability to implement updates quickly and make more frequent, less intrusive changes to operational systems has increased AmeriCredit's efficiency.

"Loan origination is a key strength of the Provenir Platform," said Jeffrey Oulton, chief operating officer of Provenir. "But AmeriCredit also benefits from having a scalable platform that can be used to address other core operations such as account management, problem resolution, security and compliance. The software lets them grow and expand their business with a common architecture and single computing environment for managing these operations."

AmeriCredit is using the Provenir Platform to support both user interactive requests and automated analysis of transactions. The software is being used at 87 branch offices around the country, ensuring that lending decisions at the local level are consistent with best practices and the latest guidelines as established by corporate management.
