Geac contributes its expertise to BPM Standards group

Geac expands its influence in Business Performance Management market

MARKHAM, ON, June 8, 2004 - Geac(R) (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC) today announced it will contribute its expertise to the BPM Standards Group, an industry working group dedicated to the success of organizations adopting Business Performance Management (BPM) solutions. Geac will be represented on the BPM Standards Group by Michael Coveney and Rod Radojevic, two leaders of Geac's newly formed Geac Business Services, a global consulting team that helps organizations combine management best practices with technology to improve management effectiveness.

Launched in March 2004, the BPM Standards Group's goals are to accelerate adoption of successful Business Performance Management practices across the enterprise, and to provide consistent thought leadership and establish standards for vendors, service providers and consultants in the industry as well as users of BPM.

"We are excited to have important players in the business performance management industry such as Geac contributing their resources to this effort," said organization spokesperson John Colbert of BPM Partners. "Our priority is to engage members who can immediately add value and are prepared to work hard to help us create important deliverables and advance the organization's goals."

The BPM Standards Group represents all the major categories in the BPM industry - application vendors, tools vendors, implementation consultants, IT/data warehousing experts, industry analysts, management consultants and system integrators. The customer/user perspective is represented through an affiliation with the members of the BPM Forum, a business oriented thought leadership group of senior level practitioners in operations, finance and information technology.

"Geac is proud to add its voice and talents to this worthwhile industry endeavor," Timothy J. Wright, Geac's Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive of EMEA and Asia Pacific, said. "Geac has much to offer the BPM Standards Group, given our unique resources dedicated to defining and espousing best practices in business performance management."

Geac will serve on the BPM Standards Group's Content Subcommittee with representatives from Deloitte, Hyperion, IBM and IDC. In the near term, the Content Subcommittee will focus on developing BPM metrics and methodologies for financial/strategic processes, customer-focused processes, supply chain processes, and HR processes.
