BETHESDA, Md., June 5, 2006 -- CodeRyte(TM) is pleased to announce the successful field-testing of Integrated Compliance(TM), a suite of prospective and retrospective quality assurance (QA) and auditing capabilities that now include advanced data mining tools. Since its founding, CodeRyte's vision has been to apply Natural Language Processing (NLP) and workflow management technologies to the medical coding process in order to make it more productive, accurate, and compliant. The public introduction of Integrated Compliance(TM) realizes CodeRyte's vision of providing customers with robust, customizable tools for proactively analyzing and ensuring maximum compliance.

From the beginning, a distinguishing feature of CodeRyte's technology has been the flexible structure of its searchable, free-text databases. Integrated Compliance(TM) fully leverages the value of this data to provide comprehensive compliance monitoring by identifying patterns and anomalies in coding, physician dictation, modifier application, and denials.

Our long-time customer Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO), an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital and Partners Health Care Network, is using this engine to allow coded notes to be reviewed by peers before they are submitted to billing. Changes made are automatically recorded and integrated into detailed reports, an integral part of coder education programs that have significantly contributed to reducing MGPO's average number of days in accounts receivable. Currently, eight other CodeRyte customers use this functionality for QA testing and experience similar results. CodeRyte centers its QA capabilities around this prospective QA workflow engine that has been in use by our customers since January 2005. Our customers use this engine to define QA policy by a variety of properties, including medical specialty, facilities or locations, individual coders, etc., and change policy dynamically. This capability not only supports customer quality needs and improves coding consistency, but also defines inter-coder agreement, an essential property of our supervised learning NLP technology.

This prospective QA capability can be combined with our retrospective auditing tools to allow true audit and compliance monitoring by analyzing coding changes. CodeRyte collaborated with customers to create a comprehensive tool for routing all notes with specific CPT codes, ordering physicians, coders, or similar information to assigned review queues for further analysis. As a result of this functionality, customers are able to effectively monitor coding quality, ensure consistent results, and bolster their existing compliance plan.

New to our customers for 2006 is our integrated data mining toolset. These tools allow us to perform advanced searches across a client's total medical report database and combine controlled database structured queries with free text searches. This advanced capability allows a compliance officer to analyze anomalies of results, identify their boundaries, and build result sets of records of interest. This searching not only helps to identify medical coding with patterns of language in a way that is much more granular than code sets, but also supports clinical decision making as medicine advances. This data mining capability was successfully field tested in February of this year when CodeRyte was able to analyze more than 500,000 mammography reports in a study of diagnostic and screening language anomalies.
