from DSSResources.comRealEstate.com debuts new beta siteCHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 27, 2006 -- RealEstate.com has launched a comprehensive Web site redesign in beta at http://beta.re.com. The new RealEstate.com, available today for consumers in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area, will roll out nationally in 2007. The beta site is heavily focused on listings, making it easier for people to find what they're looking for when buying a home. "The new RealEstate.com beta design gives customers what they've told us they want, which is free access to home listings without having to register their contact information," said Kimberly Gorsuch-Bradbury, senior vice president and general manager of RealEstate.com. "But it's not just about providing access to listings-there are plenty of sources for that. The trick isn't finding listings; it's finding the right ones. Our innovation comes in the tools we are developing to get people closer to the listings they really want." Beta upgrades and improvements include: - Listings Counter - As visitors enter their specific home criteria, the counter reveals the number of listings waiting for them before they click "Search." By broadening or fine tuning specific home criteria, users can see as many, or as few, listings as they wish. - Refined Search Capabilities - This feature allows visitors to filter down available listings even further by property type, price range, number of beds and baths, or by square footage - without having to leave the listings results page. This eliminates the frustration of jumping back and forth between pages. Each list is broken down to reveal the number of available homes from which to choose before the user moves forward. - Mapping - Powered by Ask.com, visitors can zoom in and get a street or aerial view of the home's location. By hovering over any listing in the results column, the corresponding location on the map will highlight to help users get a birds-eye view of the home's location in relation to other homes for sale. - Robust Listings Details - In addition to addresses, photos, and pricing information, visitors will see a cleaner listings detail page that describes the home's attributes, lists of internal and external features, as well as school and community information. Added Gorsuch, "The beta site is a significant step forward for RealEstate.com, but it's just the first step. We're transforming the way we work with customers who are buying or selling a home, and we expect the beta site design to serve as a launching pad for a number of new tools and services that we'll be unveiling in the next year."
