ed2go celebrates one million online course enrollments

Texas Student and Course Instructor Receive Laptop Computers; Collin County Community College to Receive Donation in Recognition of This Milestone

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 20, 2007 -- Education To Go (ed2go) is proud to announce that Robert LeCroy from Collin County Community College District has been recognized as the one millionth student to enroll in an ed2go online course. This milestone demonstrates strong growth and success in online learning based on ed2go's unique vision of working with colleges and universities to make online classes available to students on a larger scale. ed2go works with instructors to serve students in the community who need to build new skills or upgrade old ones, but don't always have the time or ability to participate in the on-campus offerings.

"ed2go strives to fill the gaps and make learning accessible to students who otherwise would miss out on opportunities in education," said Jerry Weissberg, Vice President, ed2go. "The celebration of our millionth enrollment is a very exciting milestone and with our network of education partners, we look forward to continued success with this unique online education partnership model, delivering online learning to students around the world."

Nathan Meyers, instructor of ed2go's Introduction to Perl Programming course, in which LeCroy enrolled as the one millionth student will receive a state-of-the-art laptop computer in appreciation of his contributions to online learning. LeCroy, the one millionth student to enroll in an ed2go course, will also receive a laptop computer as part of the celebration.

"I'm thrilled and honored to be part of this major milestone for ed2go. In the five years that I've taught this course, I've been impressed with the wide range of students -- from college learners to seasoned computer industry professionals," said Meyers. "It's an inspiration to see the interest and perseverance they bring to their online learning experience, and I feel privileged to be helping them achieve their goals."

Collin County Community College District has partnered with ed2go since May of 1999. Under the direction of Janet Sheppard, and with Betty Wilson's management of day-to-day operations, Collin County has consistently ranked in ed2go's "Top 25."

"We are delighted to honor Collin County Community College District as the partner that enrolled our one millionth student," said Sue Allen, Account Development Manager, ed2go. "To express our thanks, we will make a $3,000 donation on their behalf to the Collin College Foundation."

Constant changes in the workplace and an aging population of boomers have created new challenges and opportunities in adult education. This market is significantly larger than the for-credit higher education market, and demand for adult education and training will continue to outstrip supply for some time. Overall, the online education market continues to experience strong growth. For more information, visit ed2go at http://www.ed2go.com.
