SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 28, 2007 -- The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Annual K-12 School Networking Conference will feature two sessions focusing on how schools are using FileMaker Pro, the #1-selling easy-to-use database software for Windows and Mac OS, to drive budget decisions and resource allocation, and improve student performance. On Thursday, March 29, 4:45 - 5:30 p.m., a session entitled "Using Data-Driven Decision Making to Meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Goals" will be presented by Bob Barboza, educator on special assignment for The School Tools Design Group. Attendees will learn how educators from California and Florida are collaborating in a new school productivity action research project to find innovative ways to use database technology and current action research to meet their adequate yearly progress (AYP) goals. The session will summarize a five-year phase of researching and testing lesson planners, electronic portfolios, electronic individual educational plans (IEPs), and observation tools for administrators, teachers, and parents, culminating in the development of one integrated teacher and administrator productivity tool which will be used to manage instruction.

Anthony Dragona, business administrator, Union City Board of Education, Union City, New Jersey, and Grace Poli, media specialist for Jose Marti Middle School, Union City, New Jersey, will present "Streamlining Resource Allocation to Improve Student Performance," 9:30 - 10:15 a.m., Friday, March 30. The session will detail how the Union City School District achieved optimal teacher and resource matching using a FileMaker Pro database solution for data-driven decision making. Using their FileMaker Pro-based solutions, the school district improved performance against state requirements and achieved compliance with Federal "No Child Left Behind" guidelines.

Ms. Poli will also present the results of having employed FileMaker Pro database technology and iPods to improve student performance.
